Thought for today:
Have you ever found yourself facing a battle in your life and feel that
no matter which way you turn the enemy is upon you? Very often our battles cause us to fall away from God. The devil is a master at tricking us into
believing a lie, but it’s when the battle gets tough that we need to turn our
face toward heaven and put our trust in the only one that can fight the
battle.
Psalms 18:2
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress,
and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler,
and the horn of my salvation,
and my high tower.
When the king had Daniel thrown into the lion’s den,
Daniel knew that he was facing certain death at the mouth of those starved
lions. He could have hovered down and
given up but he did not do that. Daniel
turned his back on the lions and his face towards heaven. He trusted in God to deliver him and God
shut the lion’s mouth.
Isaiah 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is
become my salvation.
God delivered Daniel from physical harm, but one of the
worst battles we ever face in life is not physical, it spiritual. The devil is real and he will battle you
within your own mind if you allow it.
But we are not alone in this battle.
Jesus did not leave us to fight alone.
He said when I go away, I will send you another comforter.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may
abide with you forever;
The Holy Ghost will lead us and guide us in all our
battles. Just like Daniel, we must turn
our face toward heaven and put our trust in him. In our flesh we do not know
how to fight against spiritual demons, but with the Holy Ghost to lead us we
will know what is right and wrong.
1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because
many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
There is only ONE WAY to win our battles. We MUST depend upon his word. The Holy Ghost will teach us all things and
we can fight and win all our battles but only if we put on our armor and stand
firm in God’s word.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt
about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation
of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the
helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints;
