The word of God teaches us that he will make the enemies of Christ his footstool. God will take care of his own and if we put our trust in him, we have nothing to fear. Many times we find ourselves being pleased to see our enemies failing but the word of God teaches us that we should not rejoice in their failures. God has a plan for his own and in fulfilling that plan, there will be destruction of our enemies, but he expects us to love our enemies. Vengeance belongs to the Lord and he will repay, but if we rejoice in their failures, then he will not be pleased with our character and what might have been their downfall could be delayed by our own actions.
Proverbs 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
The bible teaches us to love our enemies and pray for them that despitefully use us and persecute us. God expects us to love everyone, even our enemies with a Godly love. This is not an easy thing to do, but when you put it into perspective and realize that you don't have to love what the person is, or what they stand for, but rather love their soul, then it becomes much easier. When we begin to stand upon God's word and pray for our enemies, leaving everything else in God's hands, we will see them brought down. We are to be prayer warriors and let God fight our battles.
Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
