1 John 4:20-21 KJV
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
This is a very powerful part of God's word. Many people take this type of scripture and without truly understanding God's love will let themselves become a victim of the hate in the world. You have to read all of... God's word and apply it all to your life in order to be a true Christian. You have to understand that God hates sin. He is pure love and won't look upon it.
Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and
canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
The Bible also teaches us that there are things that God even hates. One thing he hates is hands that shed innocent blood. I would not want to be the person that performed millions of abortions and have to stand before him one day in judgement. There is nothing more innocent than an unborn child.
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
As you can see from just a few other scriptures. It is possible to love your brother and still hate the sin that he may be committing. We should truly love every other human that walks this earth with a Godly love. We should be able to sincerely pray for their souls to be saved, but no where in God's word have I ever read that we have to love sin, that we have to tolerate sin, that we have to accept sin. God's word teaches us to lay aside sin and seek after him and his word.
1 Peter 2-1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
